Mr. Paul Golz, 8th Grade, Social Studies, Technology Teacher PGolz@sjleagles.com Education: BA Secondary/Middle School Education- Concordia University-Portland (05) Experience: Growing up, I attended public schools all my life. I was blessed enough that I did experience, through what I am sure was the work of the Holy Spirit, loving Christian teachers throughout my years in public school. These Christian teachers helped me realize that while they taught me a lot, they never could proclaim the Good News of our Savior. Learning about Lutheran education at Concordia, I decided that educational ministry was something I would be truly interested in trying. Now over 16 years later, I have seen just how this ministry is truly a great blessing and one where I believe the future of the church will be won or lost, and one I don’t want to ever leave. I believe the goal of the educational ministry is to help students transition into being adults while helping them foster a relationship with God and also help them realize God’s work in the world all around us. Family: I have been blessed with a truly amazing family. I live in Addison with my wife, Allison, who is a Lutheran School Teacher at Zion-Concord Lutheran School in Bensenville. We are the parents of two awesome children, Olivia, 7, and Zachary, 4, and we all love our dog named Nina. I grew up in Villa Park, where my parents still live. Hobbies: I love spending time with my family and enjoy watching Disney movies and shows with them. I love planning vacations and traveling. I enjoy Star Wars and Marvel movies and shows and still love putting together lego sets. I am also a huge White Sox and Blackhawks fan. Favorite Bible Verse: Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. |

I teach because I believe the Lord has called me to it. As a teen, I was always immensely grateful for the Christian adults who took the time to invest in my spiritual growth. Because of their impact on me, mentoring adolescents has become my favorite way to serve the Kingdom of God. Family: I grew up in Orland Park, IL with my parents and three siblings. I have two older sisters and a younger brother. In 2016, we added my brother-in-law into the mix too! My family also owns a 16 year old Shih-tzu named Gracie and a parakeet named Dot. I also graduated with my Lutheran Teaching Certificate from the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Experience: This is my first year teaching! I have always thought of teaching as a passion of mine. I think of teaching as a way for me to plant seeds of knowledge and faith into my students. Planting these seeds and watching them develop over their years will help them to grow and bloom as a young Christian student as they enter the world outside of St. Johns.
